In Bengaluru, BBMP officials have reported a significant reduction in sewage flow into the Koramangala stormwater drain, from 120 million litres per day to around 8 MLD, following the implementation of the K-100 Urban Waterway Project. Despite this claim, local residents and nearby commercial establishments insist that the foul odor from the drain water has not diminished and sewage-mixed water continues to flow.

Under the K-100 project, which involves a government allocation of Rs 175 crore for redeveloping the drain infrastructure, a 9.2-km stretch of the stormwater drain from KR Market to Bellandur Lake is being revamped. BBMP aims to complete the project by the end of 2024.

In efforts to prevent sewage from entering the Koramangala Rajakaluve, a 5 MLD capacity sewage treatment plant has been set up at Kumbaragundi near Kalasipalya. Additionally, BBMP has installed concrete rings and certain plants along the rajakaluve near Shantinagar to aid natural water purification. A sewage treatment plant is also under construction near Shantinagar by BWSSB, intended to further prevent sewage entry into the rajakaluve.

BBMP has completed various aspects of the project, including the construction of retaining walls, ground-level bridges, service roads, decorative lights, and landscaping. Efforts have been made to prevent rainwater from the service roads entering the rajakaluve by fixing pipelines. The project, conceived in 2021, aims to improve the overall condition of the Koramangala stormwater drain. It aimed to finish by 2023 but missed multiple deadlines thereafter.
